"Perform This Way"

The official music video is greatly funny, but it's also disturbing and you might need therapy after watching it.

Review - Alpocalypse (2011)

Well, I listened to the songs on the Internet to "Weird Al" Yankovic's newest album "Alpocalypse" set to release in a week. Here's the song list.

1. Perform this Way - parody of Lady Gaga's "Born this Way"
2. CNR - style parody of The White Stripes
3. TMZ - parody of Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me"
4. Skipper Dan - style parody of Barenaked Ladies
5. Polka Face - a polka medley featuring Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Justin Bieber, P!nk and more
6. Craigslist - style parody of The Doors
7. Party in the CIA - parody of Miley Cyrus's "Party in the USA"
8. Ringtone - style parody of Queen
9. Another Tattoo - parody of B.O.B's "Nothin' on You"
10. If That Isn't Love - original song
11. Whatever You Like - parody of T.I.'s "Whatever You Like"
12. Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me - original song

In a way, I was expecting more after Al's blockbuster hit of Straight Outta Lynwood. But all the songs rock! My personal faves are Perform This Way, CNR, TMZ, Polka Face, Party in the CIA, Another Tattoo, If That Isn't Love and Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me. Some of the songs do get repetitive, just the same joke told over and over just told in different ways. But this doesn't deter the songs' hilarity that much.

Perform This Way tells the point of Lady Gaga how she wears funky outfits but it doesn't matter because she performs that way. The song is a great opening track and really defines the humor that will be shown for the rest of the album. Classic!

CNR is basically similar to Chuck Norris references told with the late Charles Nelson Reilly instead of Chuck Norris. This song is true comedy, classic with lots of crazy references that are awesome.

TMZ is about how no matter what you do as long as your a celebrity the TMZ will catch you doing embarrassing stuff. The song is catchy and quite fun. But will it get old with repeated listenings?

Skipper Dan details the tale of a up-and-coming actor that instead of fulfilling his dream ends up earning a job working on the Jungle Cruise Line. The song walks the fine line between a depressing song and an amusing, comedic song, but since I listened to this a million times since he released it on his "Internet Leaks" two years ago, it got kinda old.

Polka Face is a polka medley that feature several snippets of some the greatest hits of today. With Gaga, Bieber, P!nk and Ke$ha, this may be the best polka medley Al created yet.

Craigslist is the story about craigslist and all the stupid crap you can buy on it. It's a nice parody of The Doors, but is it really super funny. I'll say "no." But it's tolerable.

Party in the CIA is about the CIA (duh!). This Miley Cyrus spoof it actually funny. With several slightly morbid CIA rants, it will make everyone laughing.

Ringtone is about a man who has the worst ringtone in the world. The song is cool, but it just tells the same joke over and over. That's funny but not a super funny song.

Another Tattoo is about someone who has a lot tattoos... and loves it! This may be my favorite song on the album. I can't get this song out my head, and probably won't for the next month.

**** out of ****

If That Isn't Love is one of two original songs on the album. It's a love song, as the title implies. It's a catchy and cute song told with Al's great wit. But personally, I thought the song is okay. Maybe my opinion will change in time

Whatever You Like is a song about a guy wooing his girlfriend amidst financial hardships. The song was the first track on Weird Al's Internet Leaks released on the Internet a few summers ago. And I probably listened to this song more than all the other Internet Leaks and as you can tell it gets old. But it's still tolerable and not totally useless.

Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me is the second original song on the album. It's an almost six minute long big ballad about someone sick and tired of people sending him junk on the Internet. The song is to the point, a little repetitive, but a nice touch having a choir sing "Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me" 20 times during the song. It's an addictive final song, not as good as "Don't Download This Song" or "Albuquerque", but still a great song.

While this is the most adult album Al's produced yet, using words like "getting high" and "crap" in a couple songs, it doesn't deter the hilarity that is chock-full in the album. This will please the Weird Al fans.

I'm Still Here like Joaquin Phoenix

(If you don't get the joke, I'll explain in the comments)

Well, Operation: Lots of Reviews has failed. I wanted lots of reviews by now, but I only put in one on my spare time. I've been saddened my the recent disappearance of a friend of mine, and my life always gets in the way. But I promise at least one review when I finish school later in the month.

(I'm probably talking to no one, oh well)
